Wells Fargo has uncovered another 450 service members who had their vehicles illegally repossessed by the bank. That brings the total to more than 860.

The Department of Justice on Tuesday said Wells Fargo agreed to pay an additional $5.4 million for the illegal vehicle seizures.

Federal law requires banks to get a court order before repossessing a car from members of the military. The DOJ previously charged Wells Fargo in September 2016 with illegally seizing 413 cars owned by service members.

As part of a settlement reached last year, Wells Fargo has "identified additional violations" that affected about 450 service members between January 2008 and July 2015, according to the DOJ.

The COVID-19 tests were made by Detect Inc. and were sent to customers between July 26 and Aug. 26 of this year, according to the recall notice. It impacts about 11,000 tests, which were given an FDA emergency use authorization, made by the firm.

“There is an increased chance that the tests from the lot numbers listed below may give false negative results,” the announcement said. “Detect has conducted a thorough investigation to identify this issue and has made the decision to conduct a voluntary recall for these lots.”

Detect Inc. said it has not received any reports of false negative results related to the impacted lots and said the recall is being done “out of an abundance of caution,” stressing that the “reliability of positive test results is not affected.”

The House January 6 Committee announced it will issue referrals to the Justice Department recommending former President Donald Trump be criminally prosecuted.

The first referral recommended by the committee is for Trump's obstruction an official proceeding of Congress. The committee will also refer Trump to DOJ for conspiracy to defraud the federal government, making a false statement and inciting, assisting, or aiding and comforting an insurrection.

Moscow said Monday that its air defense systems had shot down four US-made missiles over a southern Russian region bordering Ukraine, in one of its first such claims in nearly 10 months of fighting.

“Four American ‘HARM’ anti-radar missiles were shot down in the airspace over the Belgorod region,” Russia’s defense ministry said in a statement on social media, referring to a region that says it is regularly hit by Ukrainian strikes.

Texas legislators introduce bill to ban 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' programs in state schools

A bill that would "prohibit" diversity, equity, and inclusion programs at "public institutions of higher education" in Texas has been introduced by a Republican legislator, as first reported by Christopher Rufo of City Journal.

Specifically, the bill seeks to prohibit "the funding, promotion, sponsorship, or support of" any office of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It also seeks to prohibit the above for any "initiative or formulation of diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond what is necessary to uphold the equal protection of the laws under the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution."

The bill also seems to endorse a more historical definition of equality, stating that it "prohibits" the "endorsement or dissuasion of, or interference with, any lifestyle, race, sex, religion, or culture. "

Christian Nurse Sues The VA For Forcing Staff To Assist With Abortions

A former Army nurse filed a lawsuit against Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough on Tuesday over a new rule that forces staff to administer “abortions and abortion counseling.”

The new rule allows abortions when necessary to “promote, preserve, or restore the health” of the veteran or their beneficiaries as well as in instances of rape or incest, according to the lawsuit. 

Democratic California Rep. Katie Porter said Wednesday during a Congressional hearing on anti-LGBTQ violence that the term “pedophile” brands people as criminals because of their “sexual orientation.”

Porter said the phrase “groomer” is a “lie” used to position members of the LGBTQ community as a “threat.”

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) president Kelley Robinson said Twitter does not allow users to call people “groomers” but claimed Twitter doesn’t enforce the ban. Robinson then said phrases like “groomers and pedophiles” are used “to describe people … that are mothers and fathers … It is dangerous.”

The University of Wyoming’s (UW) decision to ban a church elder from operating a table inside the student union raises free speech concerns, lawmakers and legal experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The FBI not only has possession of a laptop computer owned by slain Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer Seth Rich, but a report detailing forensic imaging of what’s being described as Rich’s work computer, the bureau revealed in a new filing.

The FBI’s records office located the report while searching for the work computer, Michael Seidel, chief of the office, said in a sworn declaration filed with a federal court in Texas on Dec. 9.

He described the document as “a three (3) page forensic report detailing the actions performed by an outside entity to image the work laptop.”

The report was among four documents that had never been disclosed by the FBI in relation to Rich’s case.

Journalist Sy Hersh said in or around 2017 that he was told by a source about an FBI report on Seth Rich. He said, according to the source, that Seth Rich’s computer showed the DNC staffer had relayed DNC documents to WikiLeaks, a pro-transparency group. Hersh talked about the source’s claims during a phone call with Ed Butowsky, an investor who later retracted claims about Rich being a WikiLeaks source and discussed the call during a deposition.

An apparent threat by Michigan's Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel to arrest and prosecute local activists promoting election integrity and anti-voter fraud efforts caused many of them to steer clear of a contentious monitoring effort out of fear of being targeted by the government, according to a Michigan attorney deeply involved in the situation.

Across Michigan on Wednesday, dozens of counties and hundreds of precincts began a recount for two controversial ballot proposals that were approved by voters on Nov. 8.

Russian deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov warned NATO was "playing with fire" by providing weapons shipments to Ukraine in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday.

This is a reflection of Washington’s intentional policy, obediently pursued by the Europeans, of escalating the conflict. They are playing with fire. The risks are soaring," said Ryabkov.

The deputy foreign minister stressed that Western countries are expanding weapons deliveries to Ukraine, including "heavier, longer-range weapons."

According to Bloomberg, Chinese regulators asked the nation’s biggest insurers to buy bonds being offloaded as retail customers pull their cash from fixed-income investments. At a meeting on Wednesday, Chinese regulators told top insurers to backstop the market and buy bonds sold by wealth management units at banks to prevent further volatility. Some banks also proposed to use their proprietary trading desks to scoop up bonds, one source said.

The signs are already present and obvious, but the overall economic picture probably won’t be acknowledged in the mainstream until the situation becomes much worse (as if it’s not bad enough). It’s a problem that arises at the onset of every historic financial crisis – Mainstream economists and commentators lie to the public about the chances of recovery, constantly giving false reassurances and lulling people back to sleep. Even now with price inflation pummeling the average consumer they tell us that there is nothing to worry about. The Federal Reserve’s “soft landing” is on the way.

In my previous post, The Bubble Economy's Credit-Asset Death Spiral, I described the self-reinforcing feedback of expanding credit and soaring asset valuations and how the only possible result of this financial perpetual motion machine was a death spiral of collapsing debt service, collateral and credit impulse.

But this didn't exhaust the destructive dynamics of this self-reinforcing wealth-creation machine for the few who own the vast majority of the assets. As longtime correspondent T.D. explains, this concentration of the benefits of financialization in the hands of the few also concentrates political power and the wealth to distort every function of the economy to enrich the few at the expense of the many.

This concentration of wealth and corruption isn't cost-free. As I've discussed here many times, capital siphoned $50 trillion from labor via hyper-financialization and hyper-globalization:

Traversing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines is already stressful enough at airports. All travelers are screened during the security process by technology or an invasive pat-down. One such machine currently being tested in more than a dozen airports with a possible nationwide rollout next year is one where travelers look straight into a camera, according to The Washington Post.

The TSA is quietly testing a biometric machine called the next generation of Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) to verify the identity of travelers via their face. CAT scans the traveler's photo ID and then compares that with the Secure Flight database.

CAT machines are currently at 16 major airports with plans to expand nationwide, according to WaPo, adding, "Kiosks with cameras are doing a job that used to be completed by humans: checking the photos on travelers' IDs to make sure they're not impostors."

Australia has seen a spike in its mortality rates in 2022, with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) stating that by the end of August 2022, 128,797 deaths had been registered, which is 18,671 deaths, or 17 percent, more than the historical average.

In the data release on Nov. 25, the ABS noted that of registered deaths; there had been a rise in the number of Australians dying from dementia (18.9 percent above the baseline average), diabetes (20.8 percent higher than the baseline average), cancer, and COVID-19.

Ukrainian culture minister Oleksandr Tkachenko has issued a new demand to the West to halt performances of Russian music, Russian ballet and boycott other forms of Russian culture, arguing Ukraine is in a “civilizational battle.”

Culture Minister Tkachenko argued that Russia was engaging in a cultural war as well as a physical war against his country, claiming that the Russian armed forces have destroyed 800 objects from monuments to works of art and museums.

In an opinion article for the Guardian newspaper, Tkachenko wrote, “Russian culture has been used by members of the Kremlin to justify their terrible war,” and claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin has insisted that Russia and Ukraine are “one nation.”

“Boycotting Russian culture is an important step. We’re not talking about cancelling Tchaikovsky, but rather about pausing performances of his works until Russia ceases its bloody invasion,” Tkachenko said and added that Ukrainian cultural venues have already banned Russian works.

Zelensky believes Ukraine conflict may end in 2023

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that the conflict in Ukraine may end in 2023. Zelensky spoke about it in a video address for Politico (the publication recognized Zelensky Europe's most influential person).

On the first full day of his visit wherein he was lavishly greeted and given full red-carpet treatment after arrival in the kingdom (clearly more so that Biden's summer trip to Jeddah), Chinese President Xi Jinping met with King Salman and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday, and wide-ranging economic and tech trade agreements were signed to the tune of tens of billions of dollars, along with pledges to expand military cooperation.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched another criminal case on charges of high treason after its raid on churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, SBU said on its official Telegram channel on Thursday.

"The security service has completed its counter-intelligence measures at facilities belonging to the UOC-MP [the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Moscow Patriarchate] in the regions of Kherson [joined Russia after a referendum], Cherkassy, Zhitomir and Volyn," the statement says.

The service claimed that a search in one of UOC-MP cathedrals revealed that some of its priests had Russian passports, issued earlier this year.

"Criminal proceedings have been launched in accordance with Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine [state treason, committed during the period of martial law]," SBU said.

Frau Merkel revealed in her interview with the Zeit newspaper that the Minsk agreements were not an attempt to establish peace in war-torn Ukraine but they were aimed to give the Kiev regime more time to strengthen their military and prepare for a large-scale war.

I think this was a warning for me specifically. I’m in GA. We just cleared some land and put a home in the woods to start our homestead. I haven’t really been cautious about going out at night and early in the morning. I was out taking my dog to potty the other night. I heard a strange sound and ran back in the house. It was like loud sniffing or snorting. I think it may have been a wild hog. They are really bad out here. One night I heard what sounded like a woman screaming. My husband said it could have been an owl.

Grocery chains Kroger and Harris Teeter (owned by Kroger) have embraced the woke agenda with open arms.

Last summer, two weeks before the Fourth of July, they capitulated to a complaint by a Democrat politician in North Carolina about koozies decorated with pro-America themes featuring firearms and pulled the items from shelves.

In October, Kroger announced efforts to merge with Albertsons Companies, Inc. in a nearly $25 billion deal.

Leaders from the two companies have been at congressional hearings in Washington to defend their proposal.

During the hearings, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) blasted Kroger’s woke CEO.

Family Files $140 Million Suit Against Arches National Park After Gate Decapitates Daughter

The husband of a woman decapitated by a metal gate at Arches National Park is suing for $140 million, accusing the park staff of negligence.

Esther Nakajjigo, 25, and her husband, Ludovic Michaud, visited Arches National Park in June 2020 when a gust of wind swung the arm of a hinged gate that smacked their car and hit Nakajjigo in the head, KSL News Radio reported.

The gate killed her instantly, and barely missed her husband. Now, Nakajjigo’s husband is going after Park Service for not locking the gate, which park employees were supposed to secure, the lawsuit alleges.
